I have no problem getting text or calls while I am using the Lapdock, I can read text or answer the call (on speaker or bluetooth). Tech Engineer  |  10 reviewers made a similar statement
The extras: Two USB ports, YEAH!!! o_O  |  8 reviewers made a similar statement
Again, this is something that has been addressed many times over in the forums, but that touch pad is simply not responsive at all. R. Adams  |  4 reviewers made a similar statement

If you own a Motorola Atrix 2, Photon 4G or Droid Bionic and want to add the versatility of a laptop to your already powerful and capable smartphone, you need to take a hard look at the Lapdock 100. (Motorola has announced the Lapdock 500, release date unknown, which will have more features, including a larger screen, but will weigh twice as much and be more expensive,) The Lapdock 100 is a beautiful package. It measures about 10 x 11 x 1.25 inches and adds about two pounds to the weight of the phone. A short flexible cable extends from the back of the unit and plugs into the power/data and HDMI ports on your phone. There is a slot with a rubberized flap that you can slide your phone into. My Photon fits without problem, though you have be a bit careful and not push the phone to forcefully into the slot, lest you activate the volume or camera buttons. The 10.1 inch 1366 x 768 is gorgeous and excellent to work with. The Lapdock uses Motorola's WebTop technology. What you see is a bit difficult to explain since there is a lot going on. Your phone's screen is exactly duplicated, which by default doesn't take up much room on the screen. It can be resized. All phone controls are accessible. There is also a full Firefox browser. The phone works in cellular or WiFi mode. My Photon, with its Tegra 2 processor, is speedy and it feels like I am working with a higher end netbook. Streaming with YouTube was flawless. On WiFi, there were no problems with stuttering or video/audio synchronization. I used QuickOffice without a problem. Web browsing was a breeze, though I wished for greater vertical resolution to minimize scrolling. One limitation, however, is that although anything requiring Adobe Flash is supported, apps requiring Microsoft Silverlight - particularly Netflix - are not. That is a bummer, in my estimation. There's a status bar in the upper-right hand corner that gives you access to Lapdock settings and status for GPS, Bluetooth. 4G, WiFi, #G and signal strength, battery status, volume and date and time. There is a task across the bottom, to which you can assign apps for quick access. Motorola WebTop provides several features including a Citrix client and WiFi printer access capability. I was up and running with my printer in a couple of minutes. The Help file is relatively short and well worth spending some time with. You can do lots of neat things with the Lapdock, including screen captures. I get the idea the engineers were given a lot of latitude on creating this product. The keyboard is a good news/bad news story. The good news is that it feels good, is responsive and has lots of Android-specific keys, in addition to even more keyboard shortcuts. You can even use Alt-Tab to navigate your open windows. The bad news, at least for somewhat large fingers, is that the keyboard is not quite full size. It requires patience to bring your typing to any level of accuracy and I'm only able to get up to about a third my normal speed so far. I think that will improve over time, but I doubt that I will get to half my normal speed on this keyboard. The touchpad is surprisingly roomy and pretty responsive. The two USB ports in the back will support flash drive, mice and other USB accessories. Flash drives must be formatted as FAT32. I plugged in a 64GB flash drive that I had reformatted as FAT32 and it worked fine as did a wired USB mouse. A USB external hard drive formatted as NTFS was recognized, but not the file system. There is no headphone jack. The two speakers, one on either side of the unit, are sufficient for personal listening. Bluetooth works fine and you can use Bluetooth headsets. All phone functions are unimpaired. The only negative so far is an annoying tendency for the Lapdock to lose sync with the phone, with the screen going dark. I'm not sure of what is going on and hope that Motorola Tech Support will be able to explain it when I call. N.B. Motorola explained it: my unit is defective and needs to be exchanged. Motorola's intake customer support was pretty bad and wasted a lot of time, but Tier 2 was fine. Sprint was okay too and is sending a replacement unit. Overall, the Lapdock 100 is pretty much a little gem. It turns your phone into a netbook and does it well. I plan on leaving my laptop computer at home on my next trip where I don't need specialized software just take my Photon and the Lapdock.Jerry
